Children’s Christmas Craft Day

Children are invited to this popular holiday event. They spend the day making gifts for family and decorations for their homes, singing holiday songs, and hearing special Christmas stories with their friends. Parents have a day to make last minute Christmas preparations.

Fall Festival and Trunk-or-Treat - This annual fall event is held on October 31st. from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Fun costumes are the attire of the evening and families are encouraged to decorate their car’s trunks in a fall or spooky theme. The children parade from trunk-to-trunk for candy and treats! This Fall Festival celebration includes hay rides, carnival games, food booths, dunking booth, inflatable obstacle course, and many more fun things.
Children’s Christmas Craft Day- Children are invited to this popular holiday event which is on Saturday, December 15, 2012. They spend the day making gifts for family and decorations for their homes, singing holiday songs, and hearing special Christmas stories with their friends. Parents have a day to make last minute Christmas preparations.
Christmas Children’s Musical Program- Each Christmas the Children will perform a musical program.
Summer Camp at Lakeview - Each summer, the Southeast District of the United Methodist Church holds a church camp at the wonderful Texas Conference Retreat Center at Lakeview, near Palestine, Texas. Students entering fourth graders through high school age young people enjoy swimming, games, singing, learning, and sharing a week long camp gear for their age level. Wesley also invites adults to come and join the fun and adventure. The 2013 camp dates for those entering 4th - 12th grade are June 24-28, 2013.
Vacation Bible School - For one week each summer we offer Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 years through 6th grade. VBS is a wonderful interactive week-long event which transports children and adults alike back to Bible times. They walk the streets, see the kinds of people—beggars, soldiers, craftsmen— that would have been there at the same time as Jesus. They smell the baking bread. The children enjoy Bible stories, music, hands-on crafts, games, and many more activities. Wesley also invites adults to lead our young people in this adventure. The 2013 Vacation Bible School dates are July 15-19, 2013.
Kindergarten Prayer Partners- Each child entering Kindergarten will be assigned an adult to be their prayer partner for the next year. The prayer partner will remember that child with a note or telephone call monthly to let them know they are praying for them and thinking about them. On the Sunday evening before school starts there will be a special dinner and time together for the prayer partner and Kindergarten student.
Third Grade Bibles - Students entering the third Grade will receive a Bible from the church in September during the worship services.
Easter Egg Extravaganza- Children and their families are invited to this special event. There will be Easter Egg Hunts for all age levels from toddler to 6th grade. Also children will be invited to decorate their bikes, trikes, wagons, scooters etec. for the parade. There will also be games, food, and fellowship. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance as well and lead the parade. This event will be held the Saturday before Easter Sunday.
