Aleta Gibbs

Director of Childcare

Aleta was born in Moorends, England. She moved with her family to West Africa in the 1970’s. In 1988 she moved to the and has lived in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. Finally in October 1998 she settled in Beaumont, Texas. Aleta has two children, Joshua and Arianna.

Aleta loves working with children. She has watched some of the children she has looked after since they were infants “graduate” from her care and go on to Sunday school. It gives her great pleasure when they remember her and stop to say “Hi” or give her a hug. Aleta joined the Wesley Staff as a Nursery Worker in 2002. In June of 2003 she started in her current position as Director of Child Care. She also teaches at Trinity United Methodist Play School three days a week, and is a junior at Lamar University where she is pursuing her degree in Education.

Aleta loves to travel and feels fortunate to have lived in four different countries – , , and the . She has also had the opportunity to see many places in Europe, other parts of Africa and most of the East coast of . Aleta’s greatest pleasure in life is spending time with her children, Joshua and Arianna. Arianna enjoys ballet, acrobatics, and tap. Joshua is a great ice-hockey skater, loves jujitsu and is a keen reader. Together they enjoy going to movies, swimming and traveling. Aleta is also fortunate to have a wonderful extended family and friends including her “church family” at Wesley. When Aleta’s family went through a difficult adjustment a few years ago, she was deeply touched by the love and support they received, and continue to receive, from the people of Wesley United Methodist Church.
