Leader: Rev. Rick Ivey

As described on Amazon, “Teenagers! You love them to pieces … but sometimes you feel like the pieces are falling apart. Relax! Your sanity will survive these rocky teenage years, and so will your teens―provided you set healthy boundaries that work to their benefit and yours. Boundaries with Teens shows you how. From bestselling author and counselor Dr. John Townsend, here is the expert    insight and guidance you need to help your teens take responsibility for their actions, attitudes, and emotions and gain a deeper appreciation and respect both for you and for themselves. With wisdom and empathy, Dr. Townsend, a father of two teens himself, applies biblically based principles for the challenging task of guiding your children through the teen years. He shows you how to: deal with disrespectful attitudes and impossible behavior in your teen, set healthy limits and realistic  consequences, be loving and caring while establishing rules, and determine specific strategies to deal with problems both big and small. Discover how your teenager thinks. Learn how to apply biblical principles to specific problems. Boundaries with Teens can help you establish wise and loving limits that make a positive difference in your adolescent, in the rest of your family, and in you.”

Covenant ($15)

Wednesday, 6:30pm

Beginning September 19

Leaders: Megan Campbell and Trevor Guidry

This is the third portion of the Covenant Study - Trusting: LIFE, AS WE ALL KNOW TOO WELL, IS  IMPERFECT. Difficulties are inevitable. That’s why the final eight-weeks, Trusting the Covenant, looks at the crises that sometimes call covenant life into question, and how we are restored to trust in God when troubling things happen. This module discusses the loss of hope, and how it is restored by faithfulness in the midst of suffering. From the story of Job, to the Hebrew exile, to the apocalyptic visions in Daniel and Revelation, how faithful love is at work in everything—to restore hope, freedom, and wholeness to our lives.

Seeing Gray in a World of Black and White by Adam Hamilton ($15)

Wednesday, 6:30pm

Beginning September 19

Leaders: Rev. Donna Brown and Bev Hoffmeyer

Have you ever been apart of a conversation with someone that had a different view than you? Did you listen? Do you only see in black and white? Come learn how to see the gray in life. How do we find a balance between subject and scripture?

Everyone agrees that America is polarized, with ever-hardening positions held by people less and less willing to listen to one another. No one agrees on what to do about it. One solution that hasn’t yet been tried, says Adam Hamilton, is for thinking persons of faith to model for the rest of the country a richer, more thoughtful conversation on the political, moral, and religious issues that divide us. Hamilton rejects the easy assumptions and sloppy analysis of black and white thinking, seeking instead the truth that resides on all sides of the issues, and offering a faithful and  compassionate way forward.

Along The Road by John A. Beck ($10)

Wednesday, 6:30pm

Beginning September 19

Leader: Rev. Wade Floyd

In this study we will be going on a journey together as we use the book Along The Road by John A. Beck to look at the Holy Land from a biblical, geographical, and cultural perceptive. Dr. Beck was the leader of Pastor Wade’s recent trip to Israel who brings context to our understanding of the Bible through looking at the places much of it took place on. Here is a description of the book, “In Along the Road, John Beck delves into the     conversations that would naturally occur if you had walked with Jesus along a first-century road. Journey with Beck as he weaves the Old Testament context of each locale into Jesus's experience there, and discover how these easily overlooked  geographical and cultural details can enhance your understanding of God's Word.” From this book and Pastor Wade’s time in Israel we will have 8 sessions to look at the ins and outs of the Holy Land, we hope you will join us as we take this journey together.

Hosea: Unfailing Love Changes Everything ($15)

Wednesday, 6:30pm

Beginning September 19

Leader: Ellen Wiemers

The book of Hosea is deeply personal and a  passionate love story, yet it's a difficult story. As an account full of harsh judgment unfolds, we find in its midst a rare and pure gem: the truest and purest of loves.

Hosea, an old-testament prophet, preached his own life message using his marriage as the sermon illustration. The study of Hosea looks deeply at that message. It provides background to better understand the intricacies of the man and his  message. You'll be guided to understand, but more especially to apply the message of the prophet of love.

The book will challenge us with judgment so harsh it will singe our hair—an unheeded sermon warning of devastating doom shortly to come. But it will show us the kind of love we dream about. Be amazed by the love of Hosea for his wayward spouse—and more amazed by the unfailing love of God for His wayward people, and for all people.   Hosea showers us with hope—hints and portents pointing to the coming of the promised Messiah.
