KAIROS PRISION MINISTRY
Kairos ministers to incarcerated men, women and youth, as well as their families, to become loving and productive citizens of their communities. Our local Kairos works with the Stiles unit in Mid-County twice a year with a four day retreat in the facility.
Wesley supports this national project that improves the housing conditions of people in our community. We are currently participating in the Apostles Build, working one weekend a year and needing to raise $5,000.
Helping Hands assists with household repairs or handicap accessibility projects where it is needed and a person cannot do the work themselves. If you would like to volunteer or have questions about skill sets that are needed, contact Rev. Doretta Remy.
SOP is an ecumenical mission where we provide services of all types to people who find themselves in emergency situations. Wesley is involved by cooking a meal for about 200 people the 2nd Tuesday of every month as well as various other projects throughout the year.
Each year Wesley host a UM Army week long youth camp where out of town churches send their youth to come do work on people’s houses who are in need of repair or improvement. As part of hosting Wesley provides some of their meals and a few hours in members’ homes for the workers to take a shower in the evening.
The Society of St Stephen provides temporary assistance to the people of the Beaumont community who are in need in an effort to feed, cloth, and shelter all those precious to Christ. Large amounts of funds are needed every year to fulfill that calling. If you would like to help fund raise through the Garage Sale and Bazaar, identify those in need.
SEEDS FOR NEEDS GARDEN
Our Master Gardeners are hard at work growing fruits and vegetables for our community. Families in need often forgo buying fresh fruits and vegetables in order to extend their budget. We are excited to be able to step in and help.
Work days are schedule every Thursday from 9:30am-11:00am. Many hands make for light work. There is a job for everyone. Contact the Church office to see how you can participate in this ministry or how you can receive fresh produce.
The missions team is committed to helping our area rebuild from Harvey in the following ways this year:
1.Sending out local teams to help rebuild.
2. A significant portion of our budget has been earmarked for rebuild efforts.
3. Prayer partnering those effected with a church member.
For Harvey rebuild efforts we have also partnered with the Beaumont Area Division of the Texas Conference Disaster Ministries that is offices in the Library here at Wesley. If you want to help with this ministry, have any questions about them or what they do, need to access their services, or need to connect others to them please either go to their website or contact their local director, Linda Buser.
