Love Lunchsack Ministry
In February, Wesley UMC will begin a partnership with a ministry to our local homeless, LOVE Lunchsack Ministries. On the 4th weekend of every month, we will gather in the kitchen (Parlor kitchen for February) on Saturday and prepare approximately 85 lunches. On the following Sunday, a small group will take the lunches out to those in need. Each month we will need donations of 10 loaves of bread, packages of sliced cheese, packages of lunch meat (bologna is suggested since it's easy to eat), oatmeal pies (again, easy to eat), individual bags of chips (all alike),about 100 bananas and 4 cases of water. In addition, we'll need sandwich sized Ziploc bags and BROWN PAPER LUNCHSACKS. The lunch sacks will have a single RED HEART colored (Stamped? Painted? Other idea?) on them. This is important so the recipients know that the food is from this ministry and they feel safe. If you are willing to provide any of these items, please contact Sheree Pierce (email, call or text) and let her know.
On Sunday after the lunch building, a small group will go out after church to deliver.
Please come to the first "packing" on February 25, at 9am to help and to learn more about this wonderful new (to us) ministry.
Shilo, the founder of this group will be with us every step of the way until we are comfortable.
