Rev. Pamela Besser joined the Wesley staff in the summer of 2006 bringing a wealth of experience in leading children, youth and adult ministries.
Pam was born in Houston, TX, on March 27, 1961. She graduated from New Caney High School in May, 1979. She holds an undergraduate degree in Christian Education from Centenary College, Shreveport, LA (May, 1988) and a Masters of Religious Education Degree from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University (May, 1991). Pam was consecrated a Diaconal Minister in The Texas Annual Conference in May, 1992, and ordained a Deacon in Full Connection in May, 1998.
While attending college and seminary she served as Youth Director at the following churches: Friendship UMC, Porter, TX; First UMC, Humble, TX; Noel UMC, Shreveport, LA, and Greenland Hills UMC, Dallas, TX. Pam’s fulltime appointments have been: Youth Minister at Pearland UMC, 1992-1995; Youth Minister at First UMC, Teague, TX, 1995-1998; Minister of Youth and Education, St. Luke’s UMC, Kilgore, TX, 1998-2003, and Minister of Education and Senior Adults, St. Luke’s UMC, Kilgore, TX, 2003-2006.
Pam is passionate in her faith and has impacted the faith journey of hundreds of children and youth. She, also, has been very active with the public schools PTA program, mentoring students, school book fairs, lunch with your child, and the Junior Achievement program.
Pam married the Rev. Robert D. Besser on January 10, 1987. They have one son, Barrett. Pam states, "In my spare time I love to quilt, read, shop, watch sports and spend time with friends. I’m, also, an avid Astros fan!"
