Authentic Relationships. Intentional Ministry.
To Know God and To Make God Known.
The Young Adult Ministry exists as a place for life stages of college-aged through young families (roughly 19-39) to find belonging and purpose in Christian community. Our motto, "Authentic Relationships. Intentional Ministry," summarizes our desire to impact young adults in Southeast Texas through authentic and healthy Christ-centered relationships that challenge us to intentionally serve beyond ourselves.
In short, we exist to know God and to make God known with a specific focus on how this mission plays out in the lives of young adults.
Life groups are how we refer to our small groups that focus more on relationships than on teaching content. These groups follow the model set by John Wesley in having a weekly gathering where believers can "watch over each other in love."
In other words, these groups are a great way to hang out in Christian community. These are some of the life group opportunities offered this Fall 2016 semester:
Disciple groups are those groups that particularly focus upon teaching. These groups provide great opportunities to explore more in-depth topics. For example, the Roots Sunday School class will be looking into Ephesians this August. Also, the Tuesday and Wednesday night groups led by the young adult director will work through the Old Testament.
Here are some of the opportunities for disciple groups offered this Fall 2016 semester:
If you are not comfortable starting with a small group, don't worry! We have different ways for you to come connect with us!
Community Groups are gatherings of young adults that get together for hangouts, mission and service projects, times of worship, and times of fun. This is a great way to comfortably get to know other young adults.
Some of the community groups meet regularly, and other gatherings are more sporadic. Check out the calendar below, or email Tim Turner at moc.c1503284741muyel1503284741sew@r1503284741enrut1503284741t1503284741 to find out about the latest community group events.
One of our community groups that meets regularly is our guys basketball group. See below for more details.
Serving beyond the Self:
If you enjoy practically living out your faith, you will find a home with us. We operate under the premise that all orthodoxy (correct teaching) leads to orthopraxi (correct practice). You cannot have one without the other.
As such, we seek to engage both the head and the heart, the soul and the strength, in our service to God. Come join us and help us brainstorm new and creative ways to serve beyond ourselves!
